清蒸魚 / 我那不知死活的小兒子

My Taiwanese girlfriend told me her 25 years old son become a male chauvinism when we had chat. I felt kind of funny so I told her it’s probably all in the gene, because I got one too!

My husband is a quiet traditional man since he grew up with Taiwanese culture. He might has some of that male chauvinism in it, but he would be very carefully not to show it. My little boy probably just sense that and get it from his dad.

Most of my family knows I never take a nap during the daytimes unless I don’t feel good or sick. Therefore they would not wake me up and just let me take a rest. But my little boy who is over 16 years old. He woke me up to make some food for him after school. The other day he came home and saw me had bathrobe on, eating my very late lunch. He said to me, Mom, why don’t you do something productive ..... What? Did you know what I had done all day long? How could you say that to me. So, I asked him. Do you have your own time at home ? Maybe you should do something productive too! Well ..... this is my personal time then. He got speechless right away. I also warned him, never even wake up your lady to serve your food or ask her do something “ productive “ in the future. Being a understanding, sweet and nice man. That’s how you keep a good relationship going well and live happily ever after.

My baby little boy, you got to know, even your father seems like having some male chauvinism inside. But he respects women, knows how to put on the smile on his lady. You still have lot to catch on. I know you like seafood. I will make your favorite steamed fish for you whenever you want. Just remember don’t wake me up when I don’t feel good!

Steamed fish

4 -5 people serving

Cooking time about 10 minutes.

Ingredients:

  1. 4-5 pieces of fish filet. *Any light flaky fish will be good for steamed.

  2. 2 scallions thin slice.

  3. 1 chili seeded then thin sliced.

  4. 1/3 cups of thin sliced ginger.

Seasoning:

  1. 1 tablespoon of oysters sauce.

  2. 1 teaspoon of soy sauce.

  3. 1 tablespoon of Sake.

  4. 1 tablespoon of good sesame oil.

  5. 2 tablespoon of vegetables oil.

Prepare a large pot, place the rake inside. Fill in the cold water under rake level. Cover with lid and bring it to the boiled.

At the same time, place fish, few ginger and drizzle on the oyster, soy sauce and sake mixture on top.

*I like to roll up the fish filets to get the better air circulation during the cooking time. It also give the nice 3D looking. If you use the whole fish, you could place few scallions to do the same, then take it out after the fish got steamed. You could even put some vegetables underneath!

Turn the heat down to the lowest to avoid the steam burn yourself. Place in the fish. Cover with lid then steamed with high heat for 8-10 minutes or more. It depends on the thickness of your fish. When the fish could easily go though with a chopstick. Kill the heat, sprinkle the thin sliced ginger, scallions, chili on top of fish, salt and black paper too.

Use other sauté pan to head up the sesame oil and vegetables oil together till to smoking point. Drizzle it all over on top of ginger and scallions. You could garnish with some cilantro if you have. Server immediately. Quick and easy fresh seafood dish you will always enjoy the rest of your life is my guaranteed.

*Same technique with different twist.

我的家人多數都知道我是不睡午覺的, 除非我身體不舒服, 或是生病了. 所以他們會讓我休息, 不會叫醒我的. 但是我家這個超過16歲的小兒子居然放學回來以後把我叫醒, 要我做東西給他吃. 還有一天他放學回家看著我穿成浴袍在吃晚午餐. 他居然跟我說, 你是不是可以做一些有貢獻的事?! 蝦咪!!! 你知道我今天做了什麼了嗎? 你怎麼可以這樣跟我說話呢? 所以我問他, 你在家有屬於自己的時間嗎? 也許你也該做些對家裡有所貢獻的事才對! 他當下就啞口無言了! 我還警告他, 以後他絶對不能叫醒他心愛的女人弄東西給他吃. 更不能叫他喜歡的人得做一些”有貢獻” 的事. 做一個深思明慮貼心的男人才能維持良好關係也才能幸福快樂的過一輩子!

我的小兒子呀! 你必須知道也許你爸爸似乎有點大男人主義. 但是他尊重女性, 而且懂得如何讓他心愛的女人開心. 你還是有很多要學習跟上的! 我知道你喜歡海鮮. 只要你每次都有禮貌的請我做, 無時無刻我都可以為你上這道菜! 但是要記得我不舒服的時候可別叫醒我喔!

蒸魚

約4-5人份.

烹調時間約10分鐘.

材料:

  1. 4-5塊魚片. *任何魚肉細嫩滑溜的都很適合清蒸.

  2. 2 根蔥切細絲, 覺得蔥味太嗆的可先泡冷水!

  3. 1根辣椒或紅彩椒去籽切細絲.
